A Love Note from a Love Warrior:
One of the things I’ve learned while traveling in Central America these past months is how connected communities are. People actually look other people in the eye, and say Buenos Dias! Buenas Tardes! Como estas?! La gente disfruta conectando! Todo el dia!
If it’s one thing that has broken me out of my shell, it’s this…Looking people in the eye and asking how you’re doing! And interestingly enough, when you look at a gringo in the eye, some will say hi, but most look away lol! And I’m talking gringos from all over the world (not just the US). What’s up with that?! I say hello anyway!
And, In Colorado, yes, there are people who do make eye contact and say hi. (I encounter this more when I’m hiking tho…) In fact ‘if’ someone made eye contact with me I would ask ‘how’s it going’. Yes, maybe you’re in a shitty mood, or feel introverted, or don’t feel at all like you want to talk to anyone, but one little ‘hello, how are you’ makes people feel good! And it makes me feel good when other people feel good!
